Make it say something like this: “You know I’m sorry the other day, I got a little crazy and I apologize.  The more I think about it, you are exactly right.  I agree that we shouldn’t see each other anymore and splitting up is probably the best thing for the both of us.”

This is the opening move, not the end of the game.  People want what they can’t have.
